Catherine Cox

Catherine Cox is a Tony-Award nominated Broadway actress and educator. Her Broadway credits include leading roles in Footloose, Oh, Coward! (Tony nomination), Baby (Drama Desk Award), Rumors, Music Is, Whoopee!, Barnum, and One Night Stand. Off-Broadway, she has appeared in William Finn’s In Trousers, The Memory Show, Flambé Dreams (New York Musical Theater Festival), Vote for Me (New York Musical Theater Festival), Rap Master Ronnie, By Strouse, It’s Better with a Band, The Waves, and The Memory Show. She played Oolie in the L.A. production of City of Angels and has appeared extensively in regional theater. On television she has appeared on Law and Order and The Cosby Show. Her directing credits include Baby, Quilters, Once on This Island, Seussical, Bye Bye Birdie, A…My Name Is Alice, and Music Is. Catherine is an adjunct professor for the Drama Department at Queens College and has taught musical theater performance for many years at American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City. She is also the artistic director of Broadway Triple Threat, a musical theater summer intensive that is enjoying its sixth successful season. Married to David Evans, a composer and associate conductor of the long-running Broadway musical Wicked, and mother of two young men, Joe and Henry, she has also given birth to two plays, Sweet Betsy and The Divide.
