Alumni Anthony Roth Costanzo (MM ’08) and J’nai Bridges (BM ’09) are performing in the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s world premiere production of Bel Canto by Jimmy López.

Alondra de la Parra (BM ’06, MM ’08) was recently appointed the first female Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Performing Abroad

Alumna Melanie Gall (PS ’08, Voice) travels the world performing solo recitals and musicals and has recorded two commercial CDs of ‘lost’ wartime knitting songs. Check out “What To Expect When Performing Aboard” as Melanie recounts her tales of traveling in Europe.

On Monday, October 26, we had the pleasure of welcoming home MSM alumni from Florida, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and even Vienna!

Everyone gathered in Ades Performance Space for cocktails and appetizers, mingling with old friends and meeting new ones.

The Writers Trilogy

Izzy Gliksberg (MM ’12), Sam Nester (MM ’12), and Joe Peri (BM ’13, MM ’15)

Izzy, Sam, and Joe, members of Late Sea (previously known as Berg) are winners of the 2015 Kevin Spacey Foundation music grant for their project “The Writers Trilogy."

In 2014 they released their debut album, Children’s Corner with the UK-based record label Glasstone Records. The project is a hybrid of music, literature ,and film and an homage to 20th century writers Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Franz Kafka and Paul Celan.

Featuring RighteousGIRLS Gina Izzo (BM ’09) and Erika Dohi (BM ’10, MM ’12)

Gina and Erika's debut album gathering blue was recently featured in DownBeat magazine.

Other MSM alumni involved in the album are Andy Akiho (MM ’09), Ambrose Akinmusire (BM ’05), Mike Perdue (MM ’11), and Jonathan Ragonese (BM ’11, MM ’13).
