Living on Campus

MSM believes in the experience of cultivating a community of musicians, and living on campus is the first step toward becoming a part of the thriving musical environment. As such, all Freshmen, First-year Transfer, and Sophomore students are required to live on campus. Campus housing is offered in the G. Chris and SungEun Andersen Residence Hall, adjacent to the School. In addition to offering some of the best views of the city, the hall includes: 19 floors with housing for 600 students, 60 practice rooms, 24-hour security, and trained residence life staff. Additional features include laundry facilities, a well-equipped fitness room and a student lounge spaces. A dining facility is located in the School's main building adjacent to the residence.

An integral part of the Department of Student Affairs, the Office of Residence Life is responsible for staffing, programming, building maintenance, housekeeping services, and disciplinary matters for students living in the residence hall. The staff strives to maintain a positive community atmosphere and is available to assist each student with their living and learning experiences at MSM. Residence Life hosts more than 100 programs each year, allowing students the opportunity to break free from their rigorous daily routine. Some programs are entirely social in nature, while others have an educational spin designed to give students the tools to succeed both in and out of the artistic realm. There is always something to do in the residence hall!

The Office of Residence Life serves as the primary communications and support center for resident students. The Residence Life staff consists of two full-time professional staff, a graduate intern studying higher education administration at Teacher’s College, and 14 resident assistants (R.A.’s), who are all trained and equipped to address residents’ needs. Professional and student staff are on call every night to assist residents and handle emergencies.
