Fellowships

A limited number of fellowships is available to doctoral students qualified to assist professors in various academic courses, to teach secondary piano, or to work in the various departments, including opera, guitar, theory, history, humanities, orchestral studies, and chamber music. In addition, an administrative fellowship as assistant to the assistant dean of doctoral studies is available to a third-year student. These fellowships pay a salary of between $3000 and $6000 per academic year. Every year a list of available fellowships will be published. While many of these fellowships are reserved for incoming students, some of them are intended only for third and fourth-year students. Anyone can apply for a fellowship, and awards will be determined in consultation with the chair of the department offering the fellowship. An application letter should be sent to the assistant dean before March 15 of every year. Fellowships may be renewed for a second year.
