The Manhattan School of Music Symphony, Philharmonia, and Chamber
Sinfonia provide orchestral instrumentalists with the opportunity
to participate in three separate series of concerts which are open
to the public. The orchestral program
is enriched by selected guest conductors for concerts and readings.
Our orchestras have performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln
Center, and Merkin Concert Hall. Student participation in chamber
music and small ensembles is determined by the manager of Chamber Music and Ensembles.
Jazz ensembles also present numerous concerts and often feature
jazz greats as guest soloists. The Jazz Orchestra, one of the School's
three large jazz ensembles, has appeared at festivals and conventions
throughout the country. All jazz students participate in small combos
each semester.
