Gifts made to the Endowment Fund are invested and the income generated
is used to provide support for Manhattan School of Music’s
scholarship efforts and educational programs. Donors may make gifts
to the general endowment fund or designated existing funds. Manhattan
School of Music is also happy to work with you in establishing a
designated scholarship or programmatic endowment fund. Minimums
do apply, and donors interested in establishing a fund in their

Dianne Flagello Precollege Division Scholarship Endowment
In the spring of 1999, Dianne Flagello (Class of 1952) retired
after 25 years of dedicated service to Manhattan School of Music
and its Precollege Division. In her honor, the Dianne Flagello
Precollege Division Scholarship Endowment was established. The
income generated from this fund provides scholarship support for
deserving students studying in the Manhattan School of Music Precollege
Division program.

Birgit Nilsson Scholarship in Voice
In honor of the world-renowned singer, the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship
in Voice was established in 1984. Each year a student from within
the School’s voice department and opera studio is chosen as
the Nilsson Scholar, receiving a tuition scholarship and carrying
this designation with him/her throughout his/her career. Donations
to this fund enable the School to continue to increase the available
funds for the vocalists chosen to receive this honor.
