The Parents Association is run by an Executive Board elected in
April every two years. The Board is made up of a President (or two
Co-Presidents), 1–3 Vice-Presidents, a Secretary
and a Treasurer, all of whom are volunteers. The Executive Board
meets monthly with the Director of the Precollege Division to discuss
parental and Precollege issues. The Parents Association is located
in the Manhattan School of Music lobby every Saturday from 10:00
a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Parents Association Announcements
& Events
Parents Association Membership
All parents and guardians of Precollege Division students are
members of the Parents Association. The voluntary annual dues are
$25 per family. Dues are used to help defray operating expenses
such as the cost of special mailings and supplies for Precollege
events. The balance at year-end is contributed to the scholarship
fund.

Monthly Parents Association Meeting
Regular meetings of the Parents Association are scheduled by the
PA Officers in cooperation with the School. All parents are encouraged,
and faculty and administrators are welcome, to attend these meetings.
Notice of these meetings is posted in the PA Events Calendar and
in the lobby of the School the Saturday of each meeting. The agenda
for each meeting is determined in advance by the Board and is distributed
at the meeting. Guest speakers invited to PA meetings include the
Dean of the Precollege Division, Dr. Joanne Polk, as well as Manhattan
School of Music College Admission advisors.

Parents Association Newsletter
The PA Newsletter is published once a year. The PA invites parents
to report on their children's accomplishments by submitting a PA
Newsletter form.
Volunteers
The Parents Association sponsors several activities and events
throughout the year for which parental support is needed. Parents
are encouraged to volunteer and support the PA in organizing and
running these events. These events include bake sales, our annual
Welcome Brunch for Precollege faculty and parents, Teacher Appreciation
Day, International Food Festival Day, yearbook picture days, orchestral
receptions, and much more.
Scholarship Fund
Funds raised by the Parents Association go to the Manhattan School
of Music Precollege Division Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are
awarded to students on the basis of merit or need, as determined
by the School. In addition, the Parent Association awards $25 scholarships
each year to students who maintain straight ‘A’s for
the year and $250 scholarships each year to seniors who have maintained
straight ‘A’s for the four (4) years of high school
at the Precollege Division.
Graduation
The Parents Association, in association with the School, assists
in the organization of the Precollege Graduation Ceremony which
will take place this year on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 5:30 p.m.
in John C. Borden Auditorium. In order to participate in Graduation,
graduating seniors are responsible for contacting the PA directly
and submitting the Graduation Package forms.
All seniors who would like to participate in the Precollege Graduation
ceremony pay a $90 fee which covers the cost of a cap and gown and
the Precollege yearbook.
