The Manhattan School of Music Distance Learning Program is committed to presenting music distance learning programs of the highest educational value and technical quality. As leaders in the pioneering field of music performance distance learning and the first conservatory in the nation to use videoconferencing technology for music education, Manhattan School of Music is dedicated to contributing and sharing best practices and assessment standards to this growing field.

Distance Learning Mission Statement

Through the development and creative use of broadband videoconferencing and related instructional technologies, Manhattan School of Music Distance Learning provides access to artistic and academic resources that enhance students’ education in musical performance while heightening the global community’s awareness of and participation in the musical arts. As the first conservatory in the nation to use videoconferencing technology for music education, Manhattan School of Music features the Distance Learning program to build audiences for the future; to preserve and expand our musical heritage; to foster leadership, creativity, and technical innovation in support of new performance and educational opportunities; and to facilitate cross-cultural communication, understanding, and appreciation through music.

Assessment

The Manhattan School of Music distance learning program evaluates all of its distance learning programs for educational effectiveness and technical quality. The evaluation process usually includes student and teacher assessment surveys and/or verbal debriefing sessions following program presentations.
