International Student Concert
A diverse array of Manhattan School of Music’s
talented international student population gathers in the William
R. and Irene D. Miller Recital Hall on April 21, 2008 to perform
pieces by composers from their home countries. Presented in collaboration
with the International Student Organization and the Distance Learning
Program, the concert is both attended by a live audience and simultaneously

Friends and Family Student Showcase
A roster of Manhattan School of Music students
from all around the world performs a wide range of repertoire in a
showcase of talent set in the brand new William R. and Irene D. Miller
Recital Hall on October 18, 2007. Presented jointly by the Distance
Learning Program and the Office of Student Life, the concert is attended
by a live audience at the same time that it streams live for the public

Zukerman Interactive
In celebration of Maestro Pinchas Zukerman’s pioneering
leadership in the use of videoconferencing technology for music
performance at Manhattan School of Music and his ten years as director
of the Zukerman String Program, Manhattan School of Music presents
Zukerman Interactive, a live Webcast of Maestro Pinchas Zukerman
conducting a Manhattan School of Music string chamber orchestra
in a reading of Edward Elgar’s String Serenade, Op. 20*, from
Greenfield Hall at Manhattan School of Music on Saturday, November
15, 2003. (*Edward Elgar's String Serenade, Op. 20, is used by permission
of G. Schirmer, Inc.)

National Internet2 Day: Jazz Combo Showcase
In celebration of National Internet2 Day, Manhattan School
of Music, in collaboration with Columbia University, presented a
jazz combo virtual performance over the high-speed research and
education networks of Internet2. This performance celebrated
the advances in broadband technology that have been achieved through
the dedicated work of institutions connected to and affiliated with
the high-performance network known as Internet2. The jazz
performance was transmitted live from the Columbia University campus
to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where a live audience interacted with the
performers. Simultaneously, the performance was multicast to over
30 Internet2 members nationwide and Webcast to the public
on the Internet.
A leading Manhattan School of Music student jazz combo joined forces
with Columbia University’s Chris Washburne, trombone faculty
for the Center for Jazz Studies, to offer “Tenor Madness”
by Sonny Rollins and “Lonnie’s Lament” by John
Coltrane plus a new standard entitled “Late November”
by Manhattan School of Music student Rahsaan Barber. The Manhattan
School jazz ensemble, under the direction of Justin DiCioccio, assistant
dean for jazz, included Roland Barber, trombone; Rahsaan Barber,
saxophone; Obed Calvaire, drums; Michael Day, guitar; and Fraser
Hollins, bass.
