2010 KURT MASUR CONDUCTING SEMINAR
NEW YORK CITY – NOVEMBER 8-12, 2010
APPLICATION DEADLINE CLOSED
Seminar Overview: designed for conductors, between ages 24—35 (inclusive) in calendar year 2010. Intensive study, rehearsal and performance with Manhattan School of Music orchestral students, under the guidance of Maestro Kurt Masur. The Seminar is tuition free for all successful applicants. All Seminar activities will take place at Manhattan School of Music.
Repertoire:
Schumann: Symphony No. 4 in D Minor, op. 120 (1851 version)
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, op. 47
Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3, op. 72a
Application Process: submit resume and application, downloadable from Manhattan School of Music website: www.msmnyc.edu/special/masur - along with $100 non-refundable application fee payable to Manhattan School of Music. A DVD recording of applicant’s conducting must be included (maximum 20 minutes, with two contrasting works from the standard repertory).
Application deadline is June 18, 2010. Materials received after this date will not be accepted.
Maestro Masur will review all applications and recordings. His decisions are final, and applicants will be notified by email of acceptance status by August 31, 2010.
