Class of 2008 Campaign

“Life’s most urgent question is:
What are you doing for others?”
— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This new Student Philanthropy Program provides experience and information about fundraising, offers interactions with alumni and donors, and helps to organize annual Graduating Class Campaigns.

Student Philanthropy Program Overview

>> WHAT

Join together with your fellow students and become involved in the advancement of Manhattan School of Music in a new and ground-breaking program.

>> WHY (only a few reasons)

  • Strengthen the School in a group and community effort.
  • Learn first-hand about raising money for artistic projects — knowledge vital to your career.
  • Interact with supporters of MSM who are professionals in many fields.
  • Get early access to a network of thousands of alumni.
  • Enhance the value of your Manhattan degree.

>> HOW

  • Attend special workshops for students about fundraising for your projects.
Workshops were held in the Spring 2008 semester (February 28 and April 10), created specially for students, that addressed questions about cultivating donors, organizations, and foundations for special projects (To read about these events, click here.) Look for future workshops in the 2008 – 2009 academic year.

  • Learn about what the External Affairs department does and why. To read a message and overview of the External Affairs Department, click here. To read about Alumni Affairs events and activities, click here.

  • Volunteer just two hours a semester for the Student Philanthropy Program. Options include interacting with special guests at a donor party this spring. (Details and event options will be available in September.)
  • Apply to be a Student Representative on MSM’s Alumni Advisory Council. Application and guidelines will be posted on this page soon.

  • Graduating Students: Register early for the Alumni Online Community.
In fall 2007 the School launched its first-ever Online Alumni Community which includes a password, protected Directory that's completely searchable and an online Class Notes page. The launch was a success: to date we have had almost 1,400 alumni from around the world register and begin using the Directory. We are offering graduating student the opportunity to register before they graduate for this free service. All you need to do to take advantage of all the community has to offer is to proceed through the registration process to establish a User ID and password. For instructions on registering, visit our Alumni Directories page.

  • Graduating Students: Help inaugurate the Campaign for the Class of 2008. See details below.
