Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater is accepting resumes and materials on an ongoing basis for music staff positions. We are seeking applicants with qualifications in the following areas:

  • Assistant conductor/chorus master
  • Coach
  • Rehearsal pianists
  • Diction coaches

Job Requirements

  • All candidates must have professional experience working in both a professional and an educational setting.
  • Coaching and rehearsal pianist positions must have the ability to sight-read operatic repertoire.
  • Applicants for the coaching positions must have a comprehensive knowledge of operatic repertoire and style, and a working knowledge of Italian, French, and German.
  • Applicants are required to attend rehearsals which are held weekday mornings, with the exception of technical and dress rehearsals.
  • The term of the engagement is either a semester-long or an academic year, which for the 2018-19 academic calendar is as follows:

Fall semester – Aug. 27 to Dec.14, 2018
Spring semester – Jan. 7 to May 10, 2019

Professional fee paid for all positions; housing stipend not provided.

The Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater produces two large-scale opera productions, one scenes program, and touring educational outreach productions. For more information about the Opera Theater, including repertoire history, please visit the Opera Theater program page.
