Musical Theatre – Dance (College)

Mimi Quillin made her Broadway debut in Bob Fosse’s revival of Sweet Charity, starring Debbie Allen, and was in the original cast of Ragtime on Broadway. Having danced in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Milwaukee Ballet, and Chamber Dance Theater under director William Carter of the American Ballet Theatre, she assisted Fosse and Gwen Verdon in the reconstruction of Sweet Charity, as well as serving as dance captain for three companies. Encouraging her to pursue a career in acting, Fosse chose her as the recipient of a scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Institute.

Off-Broadway/regional credits include Genet’s The Balcony at Hudson Guild as the General’s Mare, Jules Feiffer’s Carnal Knowledge on Theater Row as Cindy with Judd Nelson and Jon Cryer, and A. R. Gurney’s Snowball directed by Jack O’Brien at the Old Globe in San Diego and the Hartford Stage. Most recently, she played Tessie Tura in Harbor Lights Theater Company’s August 2015 production of Gypsy.

Mimi is also a member of British Actors Equity and performed Edith Wharton’s Custom of the Country and other books for the BBC Radio. She took her dance/theater piece Warsaw Mermaidto the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and appeared in the FringeNYC production of The Swearing Jar. She also led a Jazz Improv Project funded by the Arts Council of Great Britain encompassing dance, music, visual art, and song. As Artist in Residence at Calvary Hospice, she created an evening of dance at The Kitchen for the Creative Center’s program for people living with cancer.

Mimi Quillin’s choreography includes regional productions of Carousel, The Music Man, and Oliver. At The Flea/OOB she has choreographed numerous plays and the world premiere of Liz Swados’s Kasper Hauser. She presently teaches dance at STEPS and Broadway Dance Center as well as writing and performing solo pieces at various New York venues. Mimi received her BFA in dance at Boston Conservatory of Music.
