Conductor and violinist Nell Flanders has enjoyed a varied career in the US and abroad. She has conducted performances with the The Secret Opera, the Mannes Repertory Orchestra, MACE- Mannes American Composers Ensemble, the Riverside Orchestra, and the Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic. As a violinist, Ms. Flanders plays a wide range of styles, from classical to blues, tango, baroque, and new music. She has performed with such ensembles as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Opera Theater, the University of Chicago Piano Trio, Pocket Opera Players, Baroque Band, Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues, and Tango Bohemia. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Chelsea Symphony and Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart. A dedicated teacher, Ms. Flanders is currently a member of the violin faculty of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School. She taught violin and coached chamber music at the University of Chicago, Utah State University, and Vandercook College of Music. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, she is currently pursuing a Masters of Music degree in orchestral conducting at Mannes College The New School for Music.
