Manhattan School of Music 2019 Sexual Misconduct Campus Climate Survey

In Spring 2019, MSM administered a campus climate survey which included a focus on student knowledge of and experience of sexual violence. The survey was sent to the entire MSM student population via email. One hundred and twenty-six (126) students responded. The questions were designed to gather information about students’ personal experiences at MSM and to understand students’ awareness of MSM’s efforts to prevent and respond to reports of sexual misconduct.

Many of the questions included in the survey asked students to share how informed they were about the resources available for victims of sexual misconduct and on sexual misconduct policies and procedures for the entire School community. Some of those responses are listed below.

  • Over 85% of students reported that they were familiar or very familiar with MSM’s Title IX/Sexual Misconduct Policy.
  • Approximately 80% of students said they could find information about the policy on the MSM website if the needed it.
  • 77% believed they could find the Title IX Coordinator’s contact information if they needed it.
  • 76% of students agreed that if they experienced sexual misconduct they would report it to the Title IX Coordinator or to Residence Life.
If you would like to review the results of the survey in full or have any questions about the survey, please reach out to the Title IX Coordinator.
