Manhattan School of Music presents a screening of Alicia’s Hands, a documentary on the life of singular Spanish pianist Alicia de Larrocha. The film, which provides a portrait of a life devoted to the pursuit of musical perfection, features André Previn, Maria João Pires, Martha Argerich, and Gerard Schwarz, among others, providing commentary on Ms. de Larrocha’s technique and her passionate approach to performance. In-person introductory remarks will be given at the screening by Alicia and Juan Torra, children of Ms. de Larrocha, whose “beautiful sound, amazing technique, and truly immaculate rhythm” (André Previn) has assured her place among the 20th century’s great pianists.
