Find out about the many helpful services offered by the Center for Music Entrepreneurship.
The CME staff provides professional career coaching in a supportive environment. In individual sessions, students can explore their goals and create action plans for success. Appointments may focus on career plans and projects, on creating and editing promotional materials, and more. Additional mentoring is available through MSM’s extensive network of accomplished alumni, faculty, and friends.
In addition to providing opportunities for students to negotiate and procure their own performance work, the CME also recommends musicians for services for varied musial opportunities. These are often situations where time is of the essence or those that call for special repertoire; they range from small ensembles for high-profile corporate functions to chamber music series for private clubs.
To be considered for these opportunities, students and alumni register by completing the Musician Referral form found here.
Musicians are chosen according to their reputations for performance excellence, reliability, cooperation, and eagerness to work.
If you are looking to hire an MSM musician, please visit our Hire a Musician page.
Every year, the office receives hundreds of requests for private teachers.
To be considered for these teaching opportunities, experienced students and alumni can register by completing the Teacher Referral Form found here. Their information is then shared with those requesting listings of private teachers.
NOTE: Students and alumni must teach these private lessons off-campus, as they are not affiliated with the school’s academic or performance offerings.

Our Online Opportunities Board is a regularly updated, searchable database sharing hundreds of full and part-time jobs in performance, music education, arts admin and production, as well as competitions and grants, plus training and internship opportunities; it builds on the success of our Facebook listings, but allows for a significantly enhanced user experience. As we continue to expand the Board additional types of opportunities (in theater, technology, etc.) will be included.

Letters of recommendation can be kept on file to be copied and mailed out by the office on request. Please contact the CME if you need to access a file that was previously setup or you are interested in starting a new credential file. A fee of $10 payable by check to Manhattan School of Music is required to activate a credential file. The subsequent cost of distributing a credential is $4 per address requested.
In collaboration with MSM’s Myers Recording Studio, professional, archival recordings of students’ recitals can be adapted for students’ promotional materials and websites. The studio is fully equipped with a digital multitrack facility and is staffed by veteran industry professionals.
