MSM Outreach program connects with thousands of New Yorkers by performing and bringing music to schools (preK – grade 12), senior living residences, hospices, and other community centers throughout Manhattan and the Bronx.

MSM students teach and perform in local public, charter, religious and private schools, reaching children in grades pre-K through grade 12.
Manhattan School of Music students present interactive performances in jazz, opera, and chamber music. With the recent expansion of universal PreK programs in New York City, Manhattan School of Music has developed extensive arts education programming for local preschools Recent performance in partner schools for Spring 2017 included “Introduction to Jazz” performances, Discover Opera! based on The Ugly Duckling, and an abridged English version of Cosi fan tutte, an Amato Opera-in-Brief performance (The Sally and Anthony Amato Program).
MSM student teachers also instruct group music lessons at partner schools as part of an in-school or afterschool program. Offerings include classes in strings, winds, brass, percussion, keyboard, and guitar.
MSM’s Arts in Education Program is made possible, in part, by grants from the A.L. and Jennie L. Luria Foundation and the D’Addario Foundation.
Manhattan School of Music’s Community Partnerships program provides students an opportunity to present meaningful and interactive musical performances to diverse audiences in hospitals, senior living residences, hospices, and other community centers in New York City, sharing the healing power of music as medicine. In many cases, performances are presented to underserved communities and to those who are unable to attend musical performances on their own. Through the program, students are able to expand their performance techniques for diverse audiences in nontraditional concert settings. All performances are followed by a Q&A and meet and greet session.
