Position Description

Title: Program Manager
Department: Youth Programs
Reports To: Associate Dean for Youth Programs
Supervises: Student workers
Internal Contacts: MSM Staff, Precollege and MSM Summer Faculty
External Contacts:  Precollege/MSM Summer Students, Parents, and Applicants
Start Date: October 9, 2026
Employment Status: Full-time; Non-exempt
Salary: $58,000

Domains

  • Support full-time staff in the planning and implementation of all Precollege Division and MSM Summer activities
  • Assist in the scheduling and logistics of Precollege Division (580 students, 142 faculty) and MSM Summer (200 students, 35 faculty) activities including student lessons, classes, performances, competitions, auditions, and juries
  • Provide general office support (phones, filing, email, photocopying, etc.)
  • Maintain student attendance records
  • Oversee scheduling of practice rooms and special events
  • Maintain competition/festival database
  • Update the Student & Faculty portals
  • Maintain the Precollege Division and MSM Summer sections of the MSM website
  • Develop and oversee Precollege social media initiatives
  • Write internal and external correspondence for department as assigned
  • Process student applications and other documents
  • Prepare annual forms, including applications, certificates, calendars, and PR materials
  • Create and process IDs for all faculty, students, and parents
  • Assist with payroll, including processing exception reports and substitute timesheets
  • Provide coverage of duties in the absence of the Assistant Director or Senior Advisor as needed
  • Advise students and parents on course selection
  • Assess students for theory and ear training course placement
  • Assist Associate Dean with artistic and curricular program development
  • Assist in engaging guest adjudicators and master class artists

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years administrative support experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, musical background required
  • Experience with classical music repertoire and K-12 pedagogy preferred
  • Computer literacy required, including skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Airtable, and Jenzabar
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required
  • Professional customer service skills mandatory; must work well with students, parents, and faculty
  • Must have an interest in working in an educational environment
  • Must be available to work Tuesdays through Saturdays
