Alex Croxton

Precollege Faculty:
Cello

Cellist Alex Croxton is based in NYC and has served as a mentor to young musicians ages three through college. Alex has taught at and continues to teach and lead workshops, institutes and masterclasses nationally. His students, in addition to winning many local and national competitions, have been admitted to such institutions as the Mannes School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard School, Indiana University, New England Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, Cincinnati College-Conservatory, Royal Conservatory of Music in Scotland, and the Eastman School of Music. 
Alex Croxton is currently a faculty member at the Mannes School of Music Precollege, Special Music School and is Head of Cello at the School for Strings, NYC.  A winner of the Artists International Special Presentation Award, Mr. Croxton made his Carnegie/Weill Hall debut to a sold out audience in April of 2008. A native of Atlanta Georgia, Alex’s teachers include Martha Gerscheski, Alan Stepansky and Julia Lichten.
Alex spends his summers teaching at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and is a registered teacher trainer through the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
Alex joins the MSM Precollege faculty in the 2026/2027 school year.
