Andrea Green

Musical Theatre: Voice

Andrea Green is a skilled vocal technician, singer, and musician with one of the busiest private voice practices in New York City.

Her students are Broadway performers, recording artists in the pop/rock genre, TV and film actors, and cabaret artists. Currently, her students are performing in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Aladdin, Amazing Grace, Book of Mormon, Fun Home, Hamilton, Kinky Boots, Les Misérables, Matilda, Something Rotten, The King and I, The Lion King, Phantom,and Wicked. Her students in other musical genres have included John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, jazz singer Madeleine Peyroux, and R & B singer Deborah Cox.

Andrea has coached and trained Allison Williams for HBO’s Girls and Uma Thurman for NBC’s Smash, for which Uma garnered an Emmy nomination.

Before teaching, Andrea performed extensively on Broadway (They’re Playing Our Song, Little Me, Yiddle with a Fiddle); off-Broadway (And the World Goes ’Round: The Songs of Kander and Ebb, Song of Singapore, 25th Anniversary Production of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris); with New York City Opera (Candide, The Merry Widow, and Naughty Marietta); and for City Center’s Encores! series (Fiorello!, Out of This World, and Call Me Madam). She has sung on many TV and radio commercials and TV theme songs and was a featured singer for the late Marvin Hamlisch’s orchestral concerts.

Since 2013, Andrea has taught at the Vineyard Arts Project Musical Theater Lab alongside Broadway veterans Scott Wise, Elizabeth Parkinson, James Lapine, Rob Fisher, and Joan Lader. She taught for Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theater Project in 2003 and 2004.

Andrea has also been on the voice faculty at NYU Tisch School of the Arts since 2010 and has conducted master classes in vocal technique and performance at Anderson University in South Carolina. In January 2016, she will be teaching voice and conducting master classes for Indiana University’s Musical Theater Program. Currently, Andrea sings with the Grammy-nominated Broadway Inspirational Voices, a nondenominational choir made up of theater, television, and film artists who celebrate the music of gospel. The Broadway Inspirational Voices were chosen to sing for the Pope at Madison Square Garden in September 2015.

Andrea has a B.A. in musical theater from Queens College, CUNY and has studied privately with Joan Lader since 1986.
