Internationally acclaimed clarinetist David Krakauer redefines the notion of a concert artist. Known for his mastery of myriad styles, he occupies the unique position of being one of the world’s leading exponents of Eastern European Jewish klezmer music, and at the same time a major voice in classical music. In addition to a busy touring schedule with his own group, Klezmer Madness!, Krakauer is in demand worldwide as a guest soloist with ensembles such as the Kronos Quartet, the Berlin Radio Orchestra, the Tokyo String Quartet, the Eroica Trio, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

His recordings on Nonesuch, Tzadik, Label Bleu (Harmonia Mundi, U.S.A.) and Angel (with Itzhak Perlman and the Klezmatics) are among the most important klezmer releases of the last decade. Krakauer’s latest release, A New Hot One, was recorded on the distinguished French jazz label Label Bleu and is distributed in the U.S. by harmonia mundi usa. Released in Europe this past October, the CD was awarded France’s prestigious Diapason d’Or prize and has been hailed a masterwork by the International Herald Tribune, Le Monde, Télérama , Jazzman, Jazz magazine and Les Inrockuptibles.David Krakauer has had major feature profiles in the New York Times, the New Yorker , and the International Herald Tribune, as well as having been the subject of an hour-long film documentary for Arte (European Arts Television) and shorter features on the Odyssey Channel and PBS .
