Tenor Dimitri Pittas has appeared on leading opera stages throughout North America and Europe, including the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Bolshoi, and the Canadian Opera Company. He is a graduate of The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and has been heard on the Met stage as Rodolfo, Macduff, Nemorino, Cassio, Alfred, and Tamino. His repertoire includes the title roles of Don Carlo, Werther, and Faust, Don José in Carmen, Lieutenant Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Alfredo in La traviata, Tebaldo in I Capuletti e i Montecchi, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Oronte in Verdi’s rarity, I Lombardi, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, and Michele in the world premiere of La Ciociara (Two Women) by Marco Tutino with San Francisco Opera.This season, Mr. Pittas makes house debuts as Cavaradossi in Tosca with Opera Utah, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and Irish National Opera. Recent performances include his role debut as Don José in Carmen at Welsh National Opera directed by Jo Davies and conducted by Tomáš Hanus, and Pinkerton in Anthony Minghella’s iconic production of Madama Butterfly for his house debut at English National Opera, conducted by Martyn Brabbins. In concert he recently performed Verdi’s Requiem with the Atlanta Symphony and the Portland Symphony, and sang Tosca in concert with the Charleston Symphony. Previously, Mr. Pittas sang Verdi’s Requiem for the BBC Proms with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment led by Marin Alsop, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Oslo Philharmonic, Mozart’s Requiem with the Lincoln Center Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, and Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Additional highlights of recent seasons include Rodolfo in La bohème with Oper Frankfurt, Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Oper Leipzig, and Santa Fe Opera; Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore with the Bavarian State Opera and Welsh National Opera; Don Carlo at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse; the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at Opéra National de Bordeaux and Opéra de Lille; and Macduff in Macbeth at the Royal Opera at Covent Garden and the Bavarian State Opera. Mr. Pittas has performed Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Bavarian State Opera, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Houston Grand Opera, and the title role of Faust in Bordeaux. On the Santa Fe stage he has performed Achille in Offenbach’s La belle Hélène, and Narraboth in Salome, Rodolfo in La bohème and Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore. Concert highlights include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Cincinnati Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra, Verdi’s Requiem with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, as well as at Carnegie Hall at the annual recital of the Marilyn Horne Foundation.
