Kevin Newton

Precollege Faculty:
Classical Horn

Kevin Newton is a horn player and educator based in Manhattan. He is on the horn faculty of Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege division and MSM Summer. Kevin is a member of Chamber Music America and his group Metropolitan Horn Authority is a recipient of the Ensemble Forward Grant. As a chamber and orchestral musician Kevin has performed professionally on the stages of Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and National Sawdust among others. A proponent of new music, Kevin has performed with contemporary groups Roomful of Teeth, Tredici Bacci and Tactus. Kevin is currently collaborating with composer Erin Busch to premiere a new solo work as a part of the Contemporary Performance Institute of the Composers Conference. As an orchestral soloist, he has performed works by Gordon Jacob, Mozart and Franz Strauss. Kevin enjoys a busy recording schedule and has recently recorded for/with Tredici Bacci, Metropolitan Horn Authority, Ruth Garbus, Sami Stevens and Azimuth Orchestra. He is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Stony Brook University and holds a MM in Orchestral Performance from Manhattan School of Music and a BM from Virginia Commonwealth University.
