Violin

Min Sun Kim has concertized and competed throughout the U.S. and Europe. She has garnered top prizes in competitions including the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia Competition, The Bergen Philharmonic Competition, the National Alliance for Excellence Prize, numerous Juilliard Pre-College concerto competitions and was invited to compete in the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition, the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition and the prestigious Hannover Violin Competition in Germany.

As a soloist, Min Sun has performed with numerous orchestras in the US and Korea, including a solo performance with Pinchas Zukerman and the Aspen Chamber Orchestra in celebration of the gala opening of the Harris Concert Hall in Aspen, Colorado. Additional performances with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, The Young Artists Orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival, Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, and the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony and Orchestra.

As a dedicated teacher, Min Sun has guided innumerable young violinists to achieving their individual goals, allowing them to attend the top conservatories and universities in the country and abroad. Her students are frequent competition winners and perform extensively, including solo performances with Joshua Bell and Mark O’Connor. She currently serves on faculty at Mannes Prep. Former faculty and string department chairperson at the Third Street Music School Settlement.

Min Sun received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang. Her chamber music studies have been with Felix Galimir, Toby Appel, Andre Emelianoff, Rohan DeSilva, Rafael Figueroa, and Fred Sherry.
