Natela Mchedlishvili

Born in Moscow, Russia, Natela Mchedlishvili began her musical studies at the age of six at the Special Music School for gifted children in Tbilisi, Georgia. She continued her education at the Georgia State Conservatory and graduated with a doctorate degree. Her teachers were Veronica Tumanishvili and Nodar Gabunia. While studying, Ms. Mchedlishvili won several regional and national competitions and performed in major concert halls of Tbilisi, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yerevan, Baku, and other cities of the former Soviet Union. At the same time, she started her teaching career at the conservatory. Since 1994, Natela Mchedlishvili lives in New York with her husband and two sons. She teaches at the Special Music School of America, which is the only professional pre-conservatory school for gifted children in the country, the Lucy Moses School for Music and Dance, and Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division. She has worked as a judge for many competitions within the U.S. and Europe. Among her students are prize-winners of Montreal International Piano Competition, Liszt International Piano Competition, All-Russian Piano Competition, and Stravinsky Competition. Ms. Mchedlishvili is a faculty member of Annual International Summer Music Academy and Festival “Music on the Rhine” in Germany.
