A ceremony to celebrate MSM Doctor of Musical Arts graduates and Commencement Award recipients

On May 17, MSM Doctor of Musical Arts graduates and MSM Commencement Award recipients were celebrated in a special ceremony in Greenfield Hall.

At the event, hosted by Executive Vice President and Provost Joyce Griggs, students receiving their Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree this year were hooded by MSM President James Gandre. Dean of Students Monica Christensen stood in for Jeffrey Langford, Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies and Chair of the Music History Department, who was unable to be at the ceremony.

Happily, some members of the DMA class of 2020 were also able to join this year’s ceremony. This year marked the first in-person commencement ceremony for MSM since May 2019.

Nearly two dozen awards were presented at the ceremony to graduating students who have made exceptional contributions to the School and to the student body during their time at Manhattan School of Music.

Congratulations to this year’s newly hooded Doctor of Musical Arts and Commencement Award recipients!
