I am a bassoonist and former member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, as well as a freelance musician. I’ve worked in admissions and higher education for the last decade and love meeting and counseling music students!
I love the warm, welcoming, and diverse community at MSM. Our students come from all over the world, and it is wonderful to see everyone come together to make music.
MSM has an incredible faculty and beautiful performing arts facilities in the ideal location of New York City. We are close to nature, great food, and some of the best arts organizations in the world! It is a great balance of artistic excellence and a warm, supportive family environment.
Don’t forget the big picture as you prepare for your audition. Yes, the faculty will be listening for certain technical details in your audition, but your musicality and character will make you stand out. Show them what makes you want to pursue this career.
I love seeing students relax in the new student lounge (photo below). It’s such a great space to recharge between classes and rehearsals.
I love how you can walk to everything your heart desires at any time – parks, restaurants, performances, you name it.
I love to hike. There are some great hikes on the Metro-North train line, but my favorites have been in Yosemite National Park and in Iceland.
