MSM Friends & Family Weekend: November 6 to 8, 2025

MSM’s 2025 Friends & Family Weekend was a vibrant occasion, welcoming over 150 friends and family members of MSM students to campus, coming from across the US and around the world.

The weekend included a State of the College address by MSM President James Gandre, vocal recitals, a jazz concert, a performance by the MSM wind ensemble, and a chance to see the MSM Musical Theatre production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

A featured event was a faculty and student panel moderated by MSM Dean of Performance and Production Operations Madeline Tolliver who discussed how student projects have been nurtured at MSM and, in some cases, moved out into the arts scene of New York City. Taking part were MSM Musical Theatre Dean Liza Gennaro, Dean of Academic Core and Head of Composition Reiko Fueting, MSM Humanities Chair Delano Copprue,  and Vocal Arts faculty member Chris Nomura.

An informative panel of MSM faculty members and students took place on Friends & Family weekend.

During the three-day event, families had the opportunity to learn more about life at MSM at several receptions, where they met MSM student organization leaders, representatives from health and wellness at MSM and the Center for Career Development and Community Impact (CCRCI), and members of the Student Affairs Team, including Dean of Students Monica Christensen.

For families and friends who could not make it to our campus, there were several live events and classes available online.

We hope to see many of you back next year for more camaraderie, learning, and community!
