Nine is reborn at MSM: a completely reimagined version of this Broadway classic features a 28-piece orchestra conducted by David Loud.
An adaptation of Italian film director Federico Fellini’s classic 1963 film, 8 1/2, Nine – with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston – tells the story of film director Guido Contini, who is turning 40, in the midst of a mid-life crisis, blocked creatively, and entangled in a web of romantic difficulties.

Wow, this is a must see. Spectacular story, singing, costumes, nice theatre.
Nine was fabulous! It was on the level of a Broadway musical. The singing was superb. The acting was professional and the costumes were beautiful. We loved it!
First rate production, beautifully performed. Outstanding!
Wow, this was a great show! I could not believe it was a “student production.” Acting, singing, costumes were as good as many I have seen in professional off-Broadway productions. This is the 4th show I’ve seen at the Manhattan School of Music and I have enjoyed all of them. The theatre is also beautiful and very accessible by public transportation.
Great show. MSM students always good. I forgot what a good score and songs this show had.
So much talent and a wonderful musical!
This was a terrific show. I was not familiar with the original Broadway musical so this was a wonderful surprise. And the cast was so talented. Special kudos to the set, costume and lighting designers. It was a Wow!
I enjoyed the play – both the singing and the acting, while at the same time I wished I could have seen the original Tony-winning musical on Broadway. The lead actor, “Guido”, a lust-driven movie director, was played with gusto and exuberance, as were many of the other roles. And the live orchestra was a big plus. I had a seat very close to the stage so I could see the expressions of the actors, which added to the experience. Thank you!
Excellent show. First class performances.
Nine is a psychological study of an Italian film director about to turn 40 confronting the women in his life and looking back at his 9 year old self. It is magnificently sung and acted by the students of the Manhattan School of Music who display a sophistication and maturity far beyond their years in their portrayal of characters who are older and much more worldly than they are. Try to see this production if you can!
Excellent production, talented actors, beautiful costumes, great orchestra, everything was superb. Lots of work for a short run. Seats were terrific.
Wow!! As good as any Broadway musical I’ve ever seen; very impressive actors, singing, sets, costumes, etc.. So great to see MSM producing such fantastically entertaining shows!
What a delightful production! Great ensemble scenes, costumes amazing, singing and choreography wonderful. These students are ready for professional careers.
A very entertaining and well performed musical!
Excellent! Wonderful orchestra. Beautiful voices. Excellent acting. Great costumes. Clever direction. Entertaining and fun. Broadway quality.
Wow! Wonderful production! Better than most of what I’ve seen on Broadway. Wonderful singing, fine acting, clever choreography, good use of the space, and 2 big, sparkly production numbers. What more could you want? Catch this if you can!
Wonderful performance by students at Manhattan School of Music. Very talented actors. I thought I was at a Broadway show.
