MSM performances in the College Division are open to the public as of November 11

The first two on-campus performances open to the public take place on Thursday NOV 11 at 7:30 PM: The MSM Symphony Orchestra with the MSM Women’s Chorus in Neidorff-Karpati Hall; and the Singers and Collaborative Pianists Seminar Recital in Greenfield Hall.

Dear MSM Community,

Having eagerly anticipated the arrival of this day for many months, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that beginning this Thursday, November 11, all MSM performances in the College Division will once again be open to the public.

The same City-mandated guidelines that currently govern all public performances in the five boroughs will be applicable for audiences at MSM. Those guidelines – part of the Mayor’s “The Key to NYC” – require that everyone in the audience be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As a result, all audience members will be required to show both proof of vaccination and valid photo identification before being allowed admittance to the MSM campus. Masks must be worn in all performance venues and elsewhere on campus in accordance with our current policies. Additional security will be put in place to manage these protocols.

We have waited until now to open our performance venues to the public out of an abundance of caution, weighing science and official guidance with the well-being of our community, much as we’ve done since early 2020 and the first days of this ongoing public health crisis. In fact, in addition to managing a number of logistical and compliance considerations relating to the return of public audiences, our main priority has been to first ensure that this fall’s full return to campus by students, faculty, and staff – and the on-campus guidelines we established to make such a return possible – would prove sustainable.

That has clearly been the case.

The first two on-campus performances that this announcement will impact are both on Thursday evening at 7:30 pm. They are the MSM Symphony Orchestra with the MSM Women’s Chorus in Neidorff-Karpati Hall and the Singers and Collaborative Pianists Seminar Recital in Greenfield Hall..

As always, thank you for your patience and continuing commitment to participating fully in MSM’s measures to keep our community healthy!

Best,

MSM President Dr James Gandre

MSM Executive Vice President and Provost Dr Joyce Griggs
