MSM's annual Commencement ceremony at The Riverside Church is an important celebration of the enormous achievements of our graduates.
The MSM Commencement ceremony takes place each year in the spectacular Riverside Church followed by a reception at MSM in the Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Performance Space and the Student Union.
ABOUT THE CEREMONY
The School bestows degrees on its graduating class as well as awarding a number of honorary doctorates and other honors, while also featuring musical performances by graduating students.

PLEASE NOTE:Â The separate DMA Hooding and Commencement Awards Ceremony 2026 takes place the day before MSM Commencement 2026 on May 20, 2026 at MSM at 10 AM. More information about this event can be found here.
The deadline for students to submit their Commencement Participation Form, Request tickets, order their Cap and Gown, nominate a student commencement speaker, and apply for a Diploma is March 31, 2026. Students must visit the Tassel site to register for MSM Commencement 2026.
Even if you are not planning on walking in the ceremony, all students must complete the Commencement Participation Form on Tassel.com to ensure correct information will be published in the official MSM Commencement 2026 program.
Congratulations, Graduate! Please be sure to register for MSM’s 2026 Commencement through the Tassel portal. All 2026 Graduates must complete the Commencement Participation Form by March 31, 2026. Once you have completed your participation form, you will be directed to order your cap & gown (regalia), request tickets for your guests, apply for your diploma, and nominate a student commencement speaker.
The Commencement Registration Form collects information that we use to compile the 2026 Commencement Program, so it is imperative that all graduates fill out the form REGARDLESS OF THEIR PLANS TO WALK IN THE CEREMONY.
If you don’t plan to walk in the ceremony, you can indicate that on the form.
Each graduate is allotted four tickets to the ceremony.
It may be possible to receive additional tickets if more become available. In early May a ticket lottery will take place — any additional tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Be sure to keep an eye on your MSM email for updates about this.
When you fill out your commencement participation form, you may give email addresses for everyone you’d like MSM to send information to about MSM Commencement 2026, and they will automatically receive an email from MSM.
There is no limit to the number of email addresses you can provide.
All tickets for the ceremony must be requested by the graduate, and the graduate is responsible for distributing tickets to their guest(s). Please connect with your graduate to make sure they request the correct number of tickets!
Faculty who wish to participate in Commencement, or order Caps and Gowns must do so by March 31, 2026. Email the Office of Student Engagement for instructions.
