Employment Status: Full-time; non-exempt; union
Salary: $27.43 per hour

Position Summary

The Temporary Maintenance Person provides custodial, facilities, and general maintenance support to ensure campus buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained. This is a temporary full-time, non-exempt, union-represented position covered by the Commercial Building Agreement between the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations and Local 32BJ SEIU (Position Category: “Other”). The position is a three-month assignment through April 30, 2026, with a regular work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Domains

  • Perform custodial and cleaning duties, including garbage removal, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies.
  • Perform setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for classes, rehearsals, meetings, and other events on campus.
  • Assist with sidewalk cleaning and snow removal as needed.
  • Assemble furniture, shelving, and cabinetry.
  • Monitor inventory and condition of furniture, fixtures and other equipment on campus, and report issues to Facilities Office.
  • Complete work orders and other duties as assigned by the Facilities Office.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of facilities and building system experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of building systems, contractual maintenance, construction, and related services desirable.
  • Proficiency with carpentry, painting, hardware, lock, and key systems.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, and codes relating to the operation and safety of facilities.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.
  • Positive customer service and interpersonal skills; self-motivated; organized with good time management skills; ability to work with competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Requirements and best practices related to chemical storage, proper lifting practices, trip & fall prevention, and mitigating other hazards.
