Graduation & Diplomas

Once all requirements are met for graduation, you must submit a Diploma Application Form.

General Information

All students scheduled to graduate must submit a Diploma Application Form to the Office of the Registrar. This form is available in the student portal under Registrar Office Forms. It is the responsibility of each student to contact the Office of the Registrar regarding outstanding courses or grades in order to ensure all graduation requirements will have been met.

Diploma Name Request Form

At Manhattan School of Music (MSM), we recognize that names are a core expression of identity. We are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment in which all community members can be addressed and recognized by the name they wish to be known.  To request use of a preferred name on a diploma, students must submit a Diploma Name Request Form four (4) weeks prior to graduation. This request cannot be made after a degree has been awarded. We invite you to review the Student Name policy, located in the Registrar Links, to understand the definitions for names, and if desired, follow the process  to request the use of a preferred name or make a legal name change to your MSM student records.

Fees for replacement diplomas and reprints

A $70.00 fee is charged for all replacement diplomas and diploma reprints.  Please be aware that the reprint/replacement diploma will contain the signatures of the current President and Board Chairperson. To request a diploma reprint/replacement, please email registrar@msmnyc.edu.

Commencement information

Commencement ceremonies are held annually each May and are coordinated by the Office of Student Life. You can find more information about Commencement here.
