College Faculty: Vocal Arts
Christopher Dylan Herbert performs opera, musical theatre, concerts, and recitals around the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Significant recent performances include the development and premiere of Judd Greenstein’s A Marvelous Order, the presentation of Vivier’s Kopernikus in Buenos Aires, and the production of his self-conceived WINTERIZE, a reimagining of Schubert’s Winterreise for outdoor audience with transistor radios, in New York and Weimar, Germany. He is currently developing the role of Rodrigo with the Talea Ensemble in Suzanne Farrin’s new opera Macabéa, which premieres in 2027 in São Paulo, Brazil. For a decade, Herbert was the baritone in the renowned Grammy-nominated quartet New York Polyphony. Herbert’s 2020 album, Voices in the Wilderness, received critical acclaim, most notably from NPR’s Morning Edition. Herbert is currently the Vocal Area Coordinator and an associate professor at William Paterson University. He holds degrees from Yale, Harvard, and Juilliard, and is a board member of The Plimpton Foundation.
