Alumnus Flavio Varani has enjoyed a seven-decade career as a piano soloist, performing at major venues and festivals throughout the world.

He was knighted by the Institute de France in 2012 as a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. His acclaimed interpretations of works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Paul Paray, Debussy, and Ravel, are available on several recordings:
