Residents may host visitors in Andersen Hall in accordance with the following guidelines:

Guest Registration and Access

Day Guests

A Day Guest is any guest who is registered to visit Andersen Hall between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Residents may host up to three Day Guests at one time and must register each guest at the Andersen Hall Security Desk. Day Guest passes expire at 11:00 p.m.

If a resident plans to have a Day Guest remain in Andersen Hall after 11:00 p.m., the resident must return to the Andersen Hall Security Desk with the guest and register them as a Single-Night Guest before the Day Guest pass expires.

Single-Night Guests

A Single-Night Guest is any guest who remains in Andersen Hall after 11:00 p.m. Single-night guest passes may be issued at any time during the day and expire at 11:00 a.m. the following morning. Residents may host up to two overnight guests at one time. Residents can register a single night guest directly at the Andersen Security desk.

The same person may not be registered as a Single-Night Guest consecutively. Residents who anticipate that a guest may need to stay for more than one night should instead register the guest as a Multi-Night Guest. Multi-Night Guest requests must be submitted at least 72 hours (three days) before the guest’s arrival. A single-night stay cannot be converted into a multi-night stay after the guest has arrived.

Multi-Night Guests

Residents who wish to host a guest for more than one night may request approval, by completing a Guest Registration Application, for a stay of up to five nights. Guest Registration Application bust be submitted at least 72 hours (three days) before the guest’s arrival.

The length of the stay is determined by counting the number of nights the guest will remain in Andersen Hall. For example, a guest staying Monday night and Tuesday night and departing Wednesday morning is staying for two nights.

Residents may host up to two overnight guests at one time. Multi-Night Guest passes expire at 11:00 a.m. on the final day of the approved stay. The host must present their approval email to Andersen Hall Security to receive a multi-night guest pass.

Multi-night guest passes may not be requested for the same person consecutively. Residents may not host a single or multi night guest during the 72 hours following the departure of an approved Multi-Night Guest.

Submitting a Guest Registration Application

To submit a Guest Registration Application, log in to https://msmnyc.erezlife.com/  and complete the “Guest Registration Application” located under “My Forms.”

Identification and Check-In

Manhattan School of Music Security manages the guest registration and check-in process. When registering a guest, the host must present their Manhattan School of Music ID, and the guest must present a valid photo ID. Acceptable identification includes a driver’s license, military ID, state-issued ID, passport, or valid college or university ID. Credit cards and other forms of identification are not accepted.

Host Responsibilities

Hosts must accompany their guests while they are in Andersen Hall. Guests may not be left unescorted in residential or common areas. Guests must carry their guest passes at all times while in Andersen Hall or other MSM buildings and present the pass to Security each time they re-enter Andersen Hall.

Guests may use practice spaces only when accompanied by their host.

At the end of the visit, guests must return their passes to Andersen Hall Security. Hosts are responsible for ensuring that their guests properly check out. Failure to do so may result in a $25 fine and, for repeated violations, loss of guest privileges.

Hosts are responsible for properly registering all guests. Guests who are not properly registered will be considered trespassers and will be asked to leave Andersen Hall.

Guest Responsibilities

All guests must be at least 17 years old and must comply with all Manhattan School of Music policies. Hosts will be held responsible for policy violations committed by their guests. Guests involved in policy violations may be asked to leave Andersen Hall and/or may be restricted from entering the building for an extended period. Police may be contacted when necessary to remove an unruly guest.

Community Standard

All residents share responsibility for maintaining a safe living environment in Andersen Hall. If you see an unescorted guest or someone acting suspiciously, notify Andersen Security staff immediately.

Orientation Period 

During the Orientation period, students may not host guests, including parents and siblings. This period is intended to help students build relationships with roommates and floormates and integrate into the MSM community.

Winter Break Stay

Students approved to remain in Andersen Hall during Winter Break may not host guests with the exception of those who register a pay to stay winter break guest in advance.
