Overall Qualifications: Admission Team Student Workers are direct ambassadors for the school. We are looking for students who are excited about connecting with prospective students and families! As you will often be a first reference point for applicants, it is important that you are comfortable communicating with people and spreading the word about Manhattan School of Music! Please read about the three different teams of student workers within the admissions office: Social Media Content Creator These students will be responsible for creating social media content, as assigned weekly by the Admission and Media Communications teams. This will include filming content for TikToks, writing blog posts about your student experience, and coming up with creative ideas to engage with prospective students.
Qualifications: Experience creating content on TikTok. Video editing skills a plus. Upbeat and vibrant personality, creative thinker. These students will be given assignments and sent off to create content, sometimes outside of the office. They should be self-motivated, responsible and efficient with their time. Administrative Assistant The Administrative Assistant students will be responsible for the management of incoming documents, through physical mail and digital. This will include scanning, organizing and filing transcripts and other application related documents. You will also be required to answer the general Admission phone number and handle any inquiries about MSM and the admissions process. You will occasionally have projects to research and collect data, call applicants with reminders and more.
Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, and ability to carefully follow directions. Comfortable picking up the phone and answering questions in a friendly manner. Tours and EventsStudents on the tours and events team will mainly be responsible for leading tours throughout the school year for prospective students and their families. We will also ask these students to participate in evening Zoom events, or weekend open houses as needed. Qualifications: Comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Upbeat and positive attitude. Timely and dependable. Able to answer a wide range of questions about MSM. (Must be available from 2pm-4pm on 1-2 weekdays)

For the Caller, the role enhances communication skills, especially the skill of persuasion, while allowing students to engage with wide range of MSM alumni and gain first-hand fundraising experience within the Office of Advancement. Streaming Video Coordinators will work with the Distance Learning and Recording Arts Department to prepare and provide musical cues and guidance during live video streaming and recording of large ensemble concerts in Neidorff-Karpati Hall.
Streaming Video Coordinators will be expected to obtain copies of the musical scores for upcoming streaming events from the MSM Performance Library, attend 1-2 rehearsals in order to observe and mark the scores with important musical and visual cues, and attend the dress rehearsal and concert/performance to work with Distance Learning and Recording Arts staff and engineers in the control room, providing cues to help determine upcoming video camera angles and framing (ex., giving a cue to the video camera operator that an important solo is coming up in a certain section so they can prepare the camera shot). Streamed events will include large ensemble performances by Orchestra, Jazz Arts, Opera Theatre and Musical Theatre, and the Contemporary Performance Program.
Additionally, Streaming Video Coordinators will be trained in video post-production and expected to edit recorded videos following each event and prepare them for archiving and delivery to the MSM community. Streaming Video Coordinators may also be assigned to monitor student recital and MSM concert video recordings that take place in one of three control rooms in the Distance Learning and Recording Arts Department.

Assist Chair and WW Lab Coordinator with external contacts -following up on jury/audition attendance responses, confirming with guest faculty, etc. Assist Chair with coordination of departmental recitals, concerto competition and master classes. Assist with maintenance of WW Dept web pages for MSM website. Keep bulletin boards up to date with departmental information and distribute info to students as necessary. Qualifications: MAY NOT BE ENROLLED IN WW LAB Must be an instrumentalist MM level and above. Must be available from 3:15 to 6:15pm on Tuesdays. Must be comfortable with technology. Strong organizational skills and computer literacy. Strong English language written and oral communication skills. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Must be responsive, punctual, and reliable. Must have some flexibility with schedule.
Students at MSM can work on an hourly basis for many School departments including Production, Communications, Distance Learning and the Center for Music Entrepreneurship.
