Welcome to Orientation at Manhattan School of Music, August 24 – September 2, 2026!
Orientation is a great way to settle into MSM, get to know New York City, and make new friends!
The week will consist of various social activities, such as a sunset cruise around the tip of Manhattan, a smoothie social in the president’s residence, and visits to iconic sites in New York City. Furthermore, there will be informative meetings to assist students in adjusting to the School. It is important to highlight that we encourage all parents to attend Convocation and the Student Success presentation for families on Monday, August 24th. These events will take place in Neidorff-Karpati Hall at 2pm and 3pm, respectively.
During Orientation students have the opportunity to complete any outstanding paperwork, learn about Manhattan School of Music’s programs and resources, participate in departmental auditions, and explore campus life and New York City.
The orientation calendar of events is available through the Orientation Canvas Course. Incoming students should check their MSM emails for information regarding accessing the course!

Move-in Day, when students can check in to MSM and move in to their assigned dorm room, is Monday, August 24th!
Yes! All undergraduate and graduate level students move in on August 24th.
Yes! All students must check in on Monday, August 24th, regardless of if they will be living on or off campus.
New students will not be able to access the campus before Monday, August 24th, which is move-in day.
Early move in is not possible; all students may move in to their assigned dorm room on Monday, August 24th.
We recommend visiting a Best Buy store where all carriers are available in one place as opposed to visiting multiple brick & mortar locations to find a provider.
