Here's how to enroll at MSM if you're an international student who will NOT be attending MSM's Summer English Study (SES).
After you’ve confirmed on your Application Status Page that you’ll be attending MSM, please follow the steps below to complete your Enrollment process.
Please use this checklist of what action you’ll need to take, by which date.
This is the last day to confirm you’ll be attending.
This is the last day to complete and submit your SEVIS I-20 Application in your Admission portal.
Deadline to confirm financial aid award through MSM Student Portal (NetPartner).
Required MSM placement exams take place online via Canvas and Zoom.

Deadline to submit the health insurance waiver if you have your own health insurance plan, or if you are covered by your parents’ plan.

Deadline to pay your tuition or sign up for a payment plan. You will receive an email from Student Accounts in July, with instructions of how to download your invoice and make your payment. Note: All full-time Manhattan School of Music students are required to have health insurance that meets the minimum essential coverage requirements set by the U.S. Affordable Care Act. The cost of health insurance will be included on your bill; U.S. students who can prove sufficient health insurance coverage will be able to have the charge removed from their bill by following an insurance waiver procedure. Please go to https://studentcenter.uhcsr.com/msmnyc to complete and submit your Waiver Request. At the end of the online waiver request process you will have the opportunity to print a copy of your request for your records.
For Students enrolling in:

Deadline to sign up for Orientation week events you’re interested in. The calendar of events for orientation will be shared with incoming students in late July.

Before you can schedule a visa interview, you will first need to submit your SEVIS Form I-20 application. If it is approved, International Student Services will send your SEVIS Form I-20 to you, along with instructions to schedule and prepare for your visa interview.
The application process for the SEVIS Form I-20 and F-1 Student Visa can take several weeks, so it is extremely important for students to be prepared and plan ahead. The deadline to complete the Student Visa Interview is June 6, 2025.
NOTE: Students must be formally admitted before the SEVIS Form I-20 document can be issued. Students that are conditionally admitted cannot receive a SEVIS Form I-20 until they have completed their files with the Office of Admission and have been formally admitted.

*ALL STUDENTS ON F-1 VISA MUST PURCHASE MSM HEALTH PLAN. Exact 2025-2026 rates to be determined.
Please note: The College rates and fees – tuition, general student, double occupancy room, and gold meal plan – the School uses to calculate and publish its Cost of Attendance otherwise known as CoA will be acted upon by the Board of Trustees on March 28th. Please check back in early April to see those four approved rates and fees which will be effective for fall 2025. The School’s remaining academic year 2026 rates and fees will be posted later in April, so please check back for those.
* Please note that the Gold meal plan is the largest and highest cost meal plan. Explore Silver and Bronze meal plans here.
All full-time Manhattan School of Music students are required to have health insurance that meets the minimum essential coverage requirements set by the U.S. Affordable Care Act. The MSM Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is mandatory for all F-1 visa holders.* International health insurance plans are not accepted.
* Cost of the 2024-2025 MSM Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) was $3,661. Exact 2025-2026 rates to be determined.
Invoices for the Fall semester will be generated and available online at the MSM Student Portal by mid-June. Invoices for the Spring semester will be available in November 2025. Please note that all charges are quoted for one semester only.

The Registrar’s Office will register students throughout the summer, based on the degree requirements and placement exam results. Schedules will be available online in the MSM Student Portal by August 15. An email will be sent to all new incoming students when schedules are finalized. Please be sure to check your MSM email.
Transfer, Master, Professional Studies, and Professional Performance Diploma students will receive information regarding advising appointments towards the end of August. Please be sure to check your MSM email.
Doctoral students will be contacted by Dr. Lisa Yui in mid-August to review the courses they will need to register for in the Fall. Please be sure to check your MSM email.

Required placement exams will take place online via Canvas and Zoom June 9-20, 2025
Placement exams are used to determine the level of each student’s abilities in music history, music theory, aural skills and other subjects related to specific majors. A new student can place out of remedial courses and/or required courses by excelling in these exams. Placing out of a course will allow greater flexibility in their coursework. An email will be sent to all new incoming students with detailed information by mid-May. Please be sure to check your MSM email.
