Musical Theatre

Manhattan School of Music’s new Musical Theatre Program gives students a fully rounded foundation in musical theatre technique, while also offering courses in musical theatre repertoire and history, drama study and analysis, and technical production training. In addition, the program offers a core of humanities courses, providing students with a fully accredited Bachelor’s degree.

This comprehensive program benefits from its New York City setting, attracting professional artist–teacher faculty and guest artists who have created and performed in some of Broadway’s biggest hits. Students have the opportunity to attend master classes given by actors, writers, directors, choreographers, and casting directors who are currently active in the city’s professional theatre community—the kind of real-world experience that only New York can provide.

Students in the Musical Theatre Program have the opportunity to perform in showcase productions and fully produced shows, both on the stage and behind the scenes. The culmination of the degree program includes a high-profile Senior Showcase, which will be attended by invited New York theatre professionals.

MSM's inaugural Musical Theatre class joined the legendary Kristin Chenoweth on stage at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre making a special guest appearance in her one-woman show, Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letter to Broadway.
